One week after declaring they will build an in-game memorial to the ships lost at the colossal Battle of B-R5RB, Eve Online publisher has decided to go whole hog and erect a monument, in real life, to all EVE Online players. At the monument (that’s an artist’s rendering), a web-based application will help visitors find names on its surface, and a laptop will be buried underneath the monument. Its hard drive will contain “videos, messages wishes and more from the players and the development staff,” to serve as a time capsule. CCP is fast-tracking this sucker, too. The monument is set to be unveiled on April 30, before the annual EVE gathering Fanfest. The dedication ceremony will be livestreamed and it will be attended by Yono all app city dignitaries. The monument itself is a sculpture by Sigurður Guðmundsson, with assistance from EVE art directors Börkur Eiríksson and Ásgeir Jón Ásgeirsson.
