Newest ‘Tales’ Tops Japanese Charts As ‘Ninja Blade’ Bombs

By Dr. Evelyn Thorne | October 12, 2025

Namco Bandai’s latest game in the Tales series, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 rocketed to the top spot in Japan in its debut week, while From Software’s Ninja Blade showed poorly.

The Xbox 360 may have experienced a brief resurgence in Japan, following a series of high profile role-playing game releases late rummy nobel last year, but its newest action exclusive didn’t win too many fans, debuting at #19. It couldn’t stand up to a slew of new releases, like the aforementioned Tales of the World sequel, plus World Soccer Winning Eleven 2009 and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time.

Also debuting to Japanese shrugs was Tomb Raider Underworld for the PlayStation 3, which rummy royal just beat out Ninja Blade to land at the 18th spot. Previous champ, Wii de Asobu: Mario Power Tennis for the Wii sank eighth place.
